ECED 627 Early Childhood Curriculum

This course examines foundational child development theories and their application to curriculum design for children from birth through age eight. Candidates will explore the philosophical, psychological, and historical foundations of early childhood education and learn to design and implement play-based, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Emphasis is placed on building strong family and community partnerships and understanding issues of cultural diversity, child poverty, childcare, advocacy, public policy, legislation, and professionalism in the field. Three credit hours.
