SOCI 227 Social Movements
This course offers an introductory survey to the sociology of social movements. Particular social movements to be studied may include (but are not limited to) environmental, civil rights, feminist, gay rights, class-based, hate-based, and terrorist social movements. Significant attention will be paid to the history, theory and methods of social movement research, and also to role of social movements in contemporary society. Prerequisite: "C" or better in SOCI 101, or instructor permission. Three credit hours.
