EDUC 692 Teaching Science and Social Studies to Young Children

This course focuses on designing and implementing inquiry-based, hands-on science and social studies learning experiences for young children. Candidates explore historical thinking skills, crosscutting concepts, and science and engineering practices to develop disciplinary understanding aligned with the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards. Theory, research, and methodology are applied to create integrated STEM, science, and social studies lessons that engage early learners as critical thinkers and problem solvers in real-world contexts. Three credit hours.
