SOSC 302 Quantitative Research

In this course, students will be equipped for quantitative literacy. This will be accomplished through the use of various common methods of quantitative research methods employed by social scientists. Students will learn how quantitative data is operationalized, gathered, interpreted, and organized, as well as the ethical considerations at each stage of the research process. A significant portion of this course will include the use of statistics to analyze and report on quantitative social data. Prerequisite: C” or better in MATH 211 and either SOCI 101, CRIM 101, or POLS 101, with at least six additional hours in any of those three disciplines. May not be taken simultaneously with SOSC 301. Three credit hours.
