NURE 618 Foundations of Nursing Education

This course introduces the role of the nurse educator and the academic environment of nursing education. Emphasis is placed on educator responsibilities, distinctions between academic and clinical roles, and expectations within higher education. Content includes legal and ethical responsibilities, disability services and inclusive educational practices, academic policies, student support processes, and the regulatory and accreditation environment. The course provides a foundation for subsequent coursework in nursing education. Prerequisites: Admission to the MSN Nurse Educator Program. Three credit hours.
